Diego Maradona Refuses To Carry Olympic Torch, Probably Diverts Rioting

Wednesday we told you about the possibility Diego Maradona would participate in the Olympic torch run in Argentina. The Olympics committee designated the first 200 yards of the run to Diego Maradona, but the Argentine never showed up. Instead he hung out in Mexico sipping margaritas and smoking dirt weed.

He was in Mexico, but the latter is just speculation. But for a man that thrives on controversy, we were hoping for a photo-op consisting of Tibetan separatists corralling Maradona while chanting in a murderous rage like the children from “Lord Of The Flies,” resulting in the little fat piggy being launched over a ledge. Damn we’re sadistic shits today, but really, it would have been nice to see how protesters, Maradona lovers and Chinese nationalists (which are a vibrant force in Buenos Aires) would have meshed. Alas, we dream the dreams of a callous voyeur.
