When you want to guarantee victory in a soccer match, sabotage is usually an option…especially in Italy. However, unless you’re in cahoots with a powerful politician, or the mafia, you’re more than likely to be busted for, let’s say, filtering tear gas into the oppositions locker room.
Palmeiras have been fined and given a home ban after the visiting team’s dressing-room at their stadium filled with a mysterious gas during halftime at a game last month.
Visitors Sao Paulo were forced to flee the changing-room and hold their halftime team talk on the pitch during the Paulista championship semi-final, second leg on April 20.
They said their players could not breathe and that the gas was irritating to eyes and nostrils.
Consequentially, the team was fine $6,024 because police couldn’t pin it on anybody. Which is ironic to this sports fan because stadiums are usually filled with patrons pelleting pitches with fire. Fire, we say! Is there any chance the janitor just dropped a severe deuce? A-a-a-a-nd we’re out.
