We don’t talk about swimming much. And when we usually do, the topic has nothing to do with Olympic coverage, swim meets or professional athletes. Cue drunken British guy on holiday who tried to swim across Venice’s (Italy, brah) shipping lanes all because his friends bet against him completing the three-mile trek.
The unnamed 25-year-old, who police said had been drinking heavily, dived into the waters early on Wednesday evening.
Friends immediately alerted police who called firefighters and a search was launched for him using a helicopter.
He was eventually found two hours later, almost dead from exhaustion, by a passing fishing boat and taken to the mainland.
Hey, if there’s one thing we learned in college is that jumping into water…is the worst thing you could ever do when drunk. Nonetheless, we thank this anonymous douchnozzle [Ed note: I can't believe I just used that, Alex.] for providing us with an audacious stunt to fill our quota. Wahoo.
