Do you watch women’s tennis? Probably not. But you should know that the Women’s Tennis Association is threatening to sanction sultry tennis star Maria Sharapova up to $1million if she doesn’t appear in a promotional shoot in Rome. Unless this is a bikini shoot, we think the fines are ludicrous.
[Sharapova] could face a fine of up to $700,000 if she decides to boycott the WTA Tour’s official promotional shoot that has been controversially planned to take place on the eve of next week’s event here on the clay of Rome’s Foro Italico. So, in the space of a fortnight, there is a chance that her fines could total $835,000, or £420,000.
The maximum fine for skipping promotional work is usually $300,000, but that increases to $700,000 for players such as Sharapova who do not wear a tour patch on their clothes.
But women tennis players aren’t tools, people. They are beautiful, short-skirt grunting towers of sensuality and grace. Duh. Maria Sharapova grunted:
“The tour does not care what any of the players think, not just top players,” Sharapova told TennisReporters.net from her home in LA. “The tour will say we have done all these amazing things that the players wanted, but trust me these things they wanted as well and financially benefited from, including this shoot. I want people to understand that I took this action because this is one in a long list of things that the tour has ignored the players. This is not about just one shoot. I just could not just sit back anymore.”
She’s hot. So strong. So lovely. We’re agreeing with everything she says because, frankly, we appreciate athlete’s more than the corporate power mongers. And, Maria is lovely.
