Whas Happened In Sports This Weekend
- Boxing: Oscar De La Hoya, bloodied and tattered by a lesser opponent, won in a landslide decision to Steve Forbes in Los Angeles 119-109, 119-109 and 120-108. We didn’t really think it was going to be a 12 round sparring session. [SMH]
- NBA Playoffs 2008: Unlike De La Hoya, the Boston Celtics went for the KO against Atlanta and knocked them out of the ring. We love Monday morning hyperboles. Boston Celtics a lot (99), Hotlanta a little (65). [AFP]
- NBA Playoffs 2008: Good thing for the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers are on pace to hand us a Celtics/Lakers finals. Let nostalgia infiltrate your bones, sports lover. Lakers 109, Utah 98. [AP]
- Kentucky Derby: Big Brown
Vatowins and becomes the first colt since 1929 to win from the 20th slot. Eight Belles, who placed second, had to be euthanized at the track due to two broken ankles. RIP Eight Belles. [AP] - MLS: David Beckham scores two goal for the Los Angeles Galaxy to earn the club a draw. Los Angeles Galaxy 2, Real Salt Lake 2. [IHT]
