Austria and Poland just wrapped up the second game of Euro 2008 action with a draw. The Austrians came out firing in the first half, with Martin Harnik firing in the 11th minute only to miss wide. He had another chance minutes later, but Polish goalkeeper Artur Boruc was impenetrable. There were other chances for the Austrians, but they simply couldn’t capitalize on the lax Polish defense.
Then, and we knew it was coming, the Polish squad broke free and Guerreiro Roger scored in the 30th minute to give the Polish side a 1-0 lead.

The rest of the game swayed back and forth rather entertainingly. And then, in the 90th minute, referee Howard Webb awarded a dubious penalty and we shrieked like a contestant on “The Price Is Right.” Austrian midfielder Ivica Vastic stepped up to the box and hammered in a textbook penalty that made him the luckiest Austrian ever. And definitely the drunkest.
