Apparently no one is safe from getting robbed by roving bands of gangs in Brazil. Football’s G.O.A.T. Pele was heading out of Sao Paulo when 10 armed kids from a nearby favela overtook his car and robbed him of his watch, cell phone and chain. Maybe they were after copies of his $14,000 book?
He was on his way from the city of Sao Paulo to a house he owns on the coast when the robbery happened at the entrance of a tunnel. Police say there is frequent traffic congestion in the area, and that gangs from a nearby favela (shanty town) often take advantage of this to stage robberies.
According to the newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo, Pele’s car was surrounded by 10 armed men who took his gold necklace, a mobile phone and a watch.
Yeah, that’s why upon getting close to the tunnel entrance, you should put your pedal to the metal. But Pele and his drivers are much cooler than we are.
Pele was in the passenger seat of his car. According to his spokesman, when the gang recognised the former player they gave the driver back some items they had taken from him.
Wow, they gave the driver back some of his shit, but not Pele? That’s pretty disrespectful. We’re guessing the leader of that gang is Argentine and not Brazilian.
