There’s nothing wrong with being short, unless you want to be a center in the NBA or something. But, if for some insane reason, you want to, you know, be taller, there’s help out there for you: get cosmetic limb lengthening surgery! Next stop, Brazil (or China or Egypt)!
It turns out that cosmetic limb lengthening is becoming more and more common. As you might imagine, it’s horribly expensive, with prices of more than $100,000 not uncommon. Some of the stories they come back with…
But back to the limb lengthening. Not only is it expensive and dangerous—the surgery requires that doctors snap your thigh bones in half, then an implant is placed in the resulting gap—but it’s a total pain to recover from. If a surgery is successful, you’re looking at a several week recovery time.
