A giant sigh of relief passed over Machochip HQ when we read that Jozy Altidore was going to definitely stay at Villareal next season, instead of being loaned out to Recreativo Huelva.
Villarreal look set to go back on their original plan to loan out American forward Jozy Altidore next season and keep him at the club while he adapts to a new country and league.
Our sincerity may be questioned at times, but there’s no mistake we believe Altidore’s backpacking trip to Spain would be a mistake for Jozy. Maybe we were a bit harsh last week considering Villareal will be rocking Champions League play next year, and seeing Jozy trot onto the field through substitution (the most likely case in his first year in La Liga) will be a great moment for American soccer fans. Let’s just hope Spanish fans can keep their cool throughout the year. We won’t hold our collective breath.
