  • Euro 2008: First, let’s give a round of applause to a Turkish squad that proved they weren’t a hoax. Their 3-2 loss to Germany was due to a horrendous lapse in defending in the the final minutes, but their semifinal berth is the reason we watch these tournaments. Underdogs freakin’ rule, but we won’t be cheering on Russia later today. [AFP]
  • Wimbledon: We would never watch a three hour tennis match… unless it was Ana Ivanovic, of course. Still, we’re glad we missed the marathon between her and Nathalie Dechy. Ana held the Frenchwoman off 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-3), 10-8. [TSN]
  • Copa Libertadores Final: The first leg was all LDU Quito. Taking advantage of their 2800 km above sea-level stadium, the Ecuadorians prevailed over a strong Brazilian Fluminese. LDU Quito 4, Fluminese 2. Second leg is July 2nd in Rio. [Canadian Press]
