A lot of people are painting new Mets skipper Jerry Manuel as a “nice guy manager” because he was Ozzie Guillen’s predecessor in Chicago and, well, people liked him. Apparently, anyone compared to Ozzie automatically win brownie points for not being Ozzie. But hold your horses Media, it turns out Manuel isn’t all sunshine and lollipops like you made him out to be. It looks like he likes to make a point with his players any way he can, even with stars like Jose Reyes.
“I told him next time he does that I’m going to get my blade out and cut him. I’m a gangster. You go gangster on me, I’m going to have to get you. You do that again, I’m going to cut you right on the field,” quipped Manuel, who reinserted Reyes at shortstop and the leadoff spot for last night’s series finale against the Angels.
“Any time you step in this position, you have to be ready to react and do what you think is right… But it worked out well. Again, I like the attitude of Jose Reyes.”
Yeah, until that little shit tries to pull that attitude crap on him. Let’s see how well Jose runs the bases after being shivved or getting his Achilles Tendon cut like in the end of Pet Cemetary. [Ed note: That little devil child killed Frankenstein!]
