Could Sony be working on a PSP cellphone? It’s the rumor that refuses to die, and there’s new info today that has us thinking it just might happen. Anonymous sources—remember, they brought down Nixon—say the PSP cellphone won’t be handed over to Sony Ericsson (which isn’t doing too hot), but will developed by the same folks who brought us the PSP. Nothing unusual about that, really.

What does sound sorta strange is that these same analysts think making a PSP cellphone would be “easy” because the portable system already has Wi-Fi built in. Yeah, well so does that SD card from before, but you don’t see EyeFi claiming it can make a cellphone like it’s nothing.
The PSP, as a game system, ain’t half bad, and we always need a new cellphone to covet, so here’s hoping Sony isn’t blowing smoke you-know-where.
