Study Says Gamers Aren’t Creepy Loner Losers

Yeah, gamers have to live with the stereotype of being lonely, friendless nerds, but now science says otherwise. A recent study in Australia found that only one percent of problem gamers—gamers who spend more then 50 hours a week playing video games—have any sort of social issues. You know, things like being able to talk to people without the use of a mouse and keyboard.
Take a wild guess as to which gamers are the most at risk.
Take a bow if you guessed World of Warcraft players. Yup, guys who play massively multiplayer online games are more likely than other gamers to be socially isolated weirdos.
You know, we played a little WoW in our day, and it was dangerously easy to throw away entire weekends grinding away, trying to level up as quickly as possible. Thankfully, we were able to shake the addiction. Now we spend all day gambling on Euro 2008.
