Swiss Screw Up German National Anthem, Play Nazi Version

With so many countries in the world, it must be difficult for soccer organizers to get their nations right. The Czechs had a difficult time distinguishing Latvia and Lithuania a few weeks back and we can’t forget about “My dear penis.” But Swiss organizers during the Euro 2008 tourney dropped the ball bigtime when they decided to shell out the NAZI translation of Deutschland’s national anthem. Whooa.

Both the Nazi version and the present-day one come from the same song, ‘das Deutschlandlied’ composed by August Heinrich Hoffmann in 1841 from music by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn.
“It is an inexcusable error,” one of those in charge of the subtitling service for the station told Blick, though he added it was the fault of two young female editors.

Because women screw up lyrics, but men disseminate violence and destruction upon races. Wait. Nope. It’s true.
