Tiger Woods Calls It Quits For The Season, Networks Go “F*@&”

It’s probably not a great day in golf when the most feared and watched player on the PGA circuit calls it quits for the rest of the season. But after suffering cartilage damage on his knee this year, and undergoing surgery in April, Tiger Woods declared hours ago that a stress fracture in his knee would sideline him for the rest of the year.
The astounding part of this story is the fact that he played with the stress fracture for more than four days and a total of 91 holes during the U.S. Open…and won. Of course, Phil Mickelson would have given him ten times more trouble than Rocco Mediate, but the pain he endured throughout the 91 holes must have been frustrating.
Now the U.S. Ryder Cup team will be Tiger-less in September and networks won’t make as big a fuss about tourneys from now until Woods returns. It’s a shame because we actually tune in every time Tiger plays, even if it’s only for a hole or two. Because seriously, if it isn’t Lorena Ochoa rocking the clubs, we don’t ever watch.
