Apple is expected to announce the second version of the iPhone today at its annual developers conference in San Francisco. Whether or not it’ll be available today is a whole different story. What should you expect from Steve Jobs?

These are what we think the new iPhone will be able to do.
• 3G. Have you ever tried to browse the Internet on an iPhone that’s not connected to Wi-Fi? It’s pretty terrible. With 3G, the iPhone will be able to download data over the air super quick. This, we think, will likely be the biggest new feature, though we wouldn’t be surprised if Apple had one or two surprises up its sleeves.
• GPS. Image using maps on the iPhone with built-in GPS. It’d make navigating cities a breeze.
• An application store. The new iPhone will be able to download applications over the air (that is, without having to connect to a computer first). The current iPhone will be able to do that, too, so don’t worry too much.
So that’s what we think we know. Check back later in the afternoon to see how right (or wrong) we were.
