Ducking out of things is an art that can’t be learned on the fly. Whether it’s your girlfriend’s birthday party or a custody hearing, there’s a certain amount of grace needed to succeed that disgraced Italian cyclist Riccardo Ricco just doesn’t have. How do we know? Because when Ricco–who was busted using EPO and kicked off the Tour de France last week–was confronted about being tested for banned substances, he ended up trapped like a spider in a web of lies. And cars.
“When he saw that he was to be tested, he escaped,’ AFLD President Pierre Bordry told reporters before the 16th stage, a 157-km mountain ride to Jausiers. “But he was caught by the stewards between two cars… We then told him that as he had tried to avoid the test, he would be tested every day.”
Loser. After the jump, the excuses we would’ve gone with to escape, penalty-free.
- I gotta go, my other bike’s double parked.
- I’m late for my Floyd Landis is a liar meeting.
- I’m a hemophiliac.
- And of course, our favorite, he had to return some videotapes.
