The Pit Bull is a breed of dog that is known to have a bad temper and a viscious bite. It’s why 11 countries in the world have banned the dog from their citizens legally keeping them around. But not Brazil. There, pit bulls roam free like in most of the United States, which means someone is bound to get their ass bit. Just like Gabriel Alexandre da Silva (or Almeida if you’re MSNBC). He was bit by a pit bull while playing in his uncle’s backyard, but he did something extraordinary. He bit the pooch back. And guess what? It probably saved his life.

Almeida grabbed the dog by the neck and bit back — biting so hard that he lost a canine tooth.
