One of the necessary tools a goalkeeper needs: extraordinary ball clearance. Yes, you usually want to get the ball beyond the midfield line by targeting one of your own teammates. This gives the defense some time to breath and allows you to take a swig of that water hanging from the net. It can all go well unless you kick the ball 30 yards and nail an opposing attacking player right in the chest. Now your defense is caught off guard, the attacker strikes, you wonder what the fuck just happened after the attacker puts his finger over his mouth and runs around the pitch imitating a stinkin’ airplane and then you notice there’s a ball in your net.
