Lewis Hamilton And Rafael Nadal Share More Than Hot Girlfriends

One of the questions we throw around here at the Machochip headquarters is why professional athletes sometimes cast themselves as the underdog to gain a competitive advantage (also: why does Hot Pockets cheese burn more than regular cheese?). Take F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton. He might have hit a rocky patch earlier in the season, but basically his first two years on the circuit has been fan-freaking-tastic. So why is he comparing himself to Rafael Nadal in terms of burning desire to overcome the championship hurdle that was Michael Schumacher, or in Nadal’s case, Roger Federer? Does he have to psyche himself up that much, or is just jealous his track suit doesn’t come with a Capri pant-option?
Lewis Hamilton cast himself as the Rafael Nadal of Formula One on Thursday, recognising in the Spaniard’s epic Wimbledon triumph the same fire that burns within him on the racetrack.
“I thought Federer was going to win. I’m not biased, but because I know him and he is a fantastic athlete who has achieved so much. But I knew Nadal was hungry for it. Nadal had something new,” he said. “He had even more hunger, and it is impossible to match that once you have won it a lot of times.”
Yeah, kinda like when you have hot girlfriend after hot girlfriend. We’re sure that thrill gets old after a while, too Hamilton.
