Manchester City were supposedly in the running for Ronaldinho’s services, but were beaten to the punch by AC Milan. Now, the team is searching for other ways either than acquiring talent to instill a winning attitude throughout their club.

[Executive chairman Gary Cook] has now had crystals placed under the pitch at Eastlands and symbols placed in strategic spots around the stadium, in the hope that the Far Eastern tradition will have the same success that it did for Tottenham Hotspur, the Carling Cup champions, who experimented with the idea last season.
“It is like a Catholic putting a Crucifix on a wall,” a City source said. “It is common practice for Christian pastors to bless the club and Garry felt this was something worth trying.”

Yeah, but (to steal Anthony Bourdain’s words) Catholics also like to use the “worship or die” method of inducing harmony so we may hear about sacrifices made on Man City’s training grounds in the next few months because Nery Castillo forgot to place his boots in the designated area.
