Whas Happened In Sports Last Night
- Copa Libertadores: It all came down to a penalty shoot out between Brazilian club Fluminese and Ecuadorian club LDU Quito, and after 3-out-of-4 saves from LDU’s goalkeeper, the Ecuadorians were crowned as champions. Fluminese’s Thiago Neves scored a hat trick but in his words “”I scored three goals but they weren’t worth anything because we didn’t win the trophy.” Some get that guy a keg and a funnel, please. LDU Quito 5 (3), Fluminese 5 (1). [Reuters]
- Wimbledon: The world’s number one ranked Men’s tennis player is headed to the semis after a convincing win. Roger Federer beat Croatian Mario Ancic 6-1, 7-5, 6-4. Let’s just get Federer with Nadal, center-court, and everyone will be happy. [Swiss Info]
- MLB 2008: Hiroki Koruda came off the disabled list to pitch seven shutout innings and earn himself a lovely win. Does this mean Nomar Garciaparra will come off the DL and hit 30 homeruns? Hell. No. LA 4, Houston 1. [TSN]
