Whas Happened In Sports Last Night
- MLB: The worst way to begin the second half of the season is to drop a few games and have a struggling team claw its way back to first place. Meet Los Angeles, Arizona. The Diamondbacks gave up a three-run lead in the ninth and gave away sole position of first place in the NL West. Good thing there’s an entire half-season to keep us entertained, ey comrades? - Superliga: New England’s 78th minute goal secured a draw with Chivas USA and a place in the next round for the Revolution. Chivas USA, who needed a Santos win to advance out of the group stages, were shunned from their own stadium because of the X games. That’s cold. Chivas USA 1, NE Revolution 1. [Canadian Press]
- Superliga: 6,000 roaring soccer fans turned out to watch Pachuca survive a draw with Santos at Pizz Hut Park. Sounds like a theme park gone terribly wrong, doesn’t it? The draw meant Chivas USA are out and Pachuca will face the Dynamo in the next round. Santos 1, Pachuca 1. [Dallas News]
