Whas Happened In Sports Last Night

  • MLB: The last thing the Mets were looking to do was squander a four-run lead in the ninth to their arch-rivals in the NL East. Yet, that’s exactly what they did. Three relievers took the plunge from bullpen to mound and all three sank like the Titanic. The look on Jose Reyes’ face means that it was really catastrophic. Mets 6, Phillies 8. [NY Times]
  • MLB: Boston Red Sox pitcher Dice-K is completely unstoppable when he’s away from Fenway Park. His 5-0 record and 2.20 ERA means he can pitch blindfolded and it wouldn’t matter. He’s still going to win. Boston 4, Mariners 2. [SI]
  • MLB: The Los Angeles Dodgers have scored 17 runs in the last two games, which is wonderful. Unfortunately, they’ve done it disproportionately. They scored 16 runs yesterday to thrash the Rockies, but only managed to score one run against the Rockies Ubaldo Jimenez who threw a four-hitter. Rockies 10, Dodgers 1. [AP]
