Rafa Marquez endured an injury plagued season in Barcelona this past year, but his spirits seem fine now that clubs such as Atletico Madrid and Juventus are vying for his skills. And though most Mexican soccer lovers we talk to would love to see the Mexican captain back in the motherland, they can feel more confident that his heart still lies in North America. Rafa Marquez and longtime Atlas and national team player Miguel Ángel Zepeda have invested in a new Division A club called Tepic. Zepeda spoke:
“Now I have two functions with the club: I am a player on one hand and an investor on the other. Both Rafa Marquez and I are investors, along with a few other entrpreneurs…”
“It’s been years since the people of Tepic talked about having a team, and after talking to the investors and Rafa Marquez, we decided to go for it.”
“Rafa Marquez’s support, along with the Tepic government and mayor, made Coras dream come true.”
So Zepeda is playing for the team, too? Does that mean Rafa…Like would he think about…Is there a possibility…Nah. Hey, we’re not saying he’d leave this season or next season, but just wait to see if he puts on a Tepic jersey some time during his career. Post bloating and injury of course, but just wait.
