Being the reigning Wimbledon champion has many perks. First, hot girlfriend probably loves you more. Second, you get an asteroid named after you because you’re that amazing. Three, you get to tell the people that put on these tournaments (most of them, anyway) exactly what you like or dislike, without the fear of persecution or sanctioning. So, Rafael Nadal has pulled a Maria Sharapova by openly criticizing the hard-courts the ATP wants players to compete on.

“The top management of the ATP are … always thinking about playing more and more tournaments on this kind of surface,” Nadal said. “It’s not good because if you look at the locker room and the trainers’ room, everybody has problems. It’s the hardest surface on the body for sure.

“Not everyone has the same [injury] but I’ve seen a lot of players with problems in the knees and feet. Everybody is taped up,” he said.

Next he’ll be demanding sock-hops after the match so the players can mingle.
