For someone celebrating their 75th birthday, Captain Lou Albano sure knows some people who can rage at a party. Lou’s friend and former ECW champ Jim Fullington, aka “The Sandman,” decided to get a little drunk during the Captain’s diamond celebration on Sunday and exchanged words with the owner of the place they were were partying. Mr. Owner, however, wasn’t having any of it and smashed a bottle against the wrestler’s face that led to a fracas so intense that The Sandman threw a tray of beer glasses at the police, leading to the Yonkers SWAT team had to be called in. Ah, nothing marks your entry into the golden years quite like tear gas and riot shields being swung at people. Hope they didn’t ruin the cake! /fingers crossed
The bloodied and battered Fullington - an Extreme Championship Wrestling pro and longtime friend of the legendary Albano - left the party in an ambulance, and woke up in a Westchester jail cell today, charged with assault, according to Yonkers cops.
Man, we hate it when that happens.
Five Yonkers cops, a SWAT unit and an ambulance had to be called to stop the brawl, which partygoers said started after Fullington exchanged words with eatery owner T.J. Tarone - who responded by shattering a beer bottle in the face of the 6-foot-6, 300-pound wrestler.
“It was unbelievable - I’ve never seen anything like it,” one stunned party guest told The Post today… “If you didn’t know better, you’d think the whole thing had been staged.”
Yeah, we would’ve thought that too, but there wasn’t enough Vince McMahon faking his death via exploding limo or faking giving his daughter’s hand in marriage away to make it believable.
