Watch TiVo, Buy Whatever Leno’s Guest Is Hawking

TiVo’s got a new service that could actually be worth checking out. What it does is tie in what you’re watching on shows like Leno or The View (we know you watch The View), and lets you buy featured items right from your remote control from Amazon.com. Say you’re watching some actor promote his book on Leno, right. From the TiVo menu, you’d then be able to buy the book right from the comfort of your couch.
Neat, sure, but no one reads anymore. Well, what if you’re watching Conan, and some band you’ve never heard of totally rocks out. Whip out your remote control and you could have the CD in your hands by the next day. That’s pretty damn cool if you ask us.
The service will be totally free (the service, not the books ands CDs and so forth), but will only be on official TiVo, not your local cable company’s cheap-o DVR. Give it time, though, as TiVo is trying to work with said cable companies to bring its software to their DVRs.
Not too shabby.
