Struggling backpackers and SAG-rejected actors take note: there are jobs for you in Eastern Europe. Poland is one of the fastest growing cell phone markets in Europe, so it’s no surprise that hundreds of users are lined up this weekend to get their hands on the hottest fad since the “pet rock.” Except, things may not be as they seem. Poland’s largest telecommunications company Orange admitted the hype for the iPhone was a bit of a “green-screen” effect.
“We have these fake queues at front of 20 stores around the country to drum up interest in the iPhone,” a spokesman said.
As part of a marketing campaign ahead of the iPhone’s Friday launch in Poland, the country’s largest mobile operator Orange is paying dozens of actors to stand in queues.
In other news: the whereabouts of Rob Schnieder, Pauly Shore and Andy Dick were questioned this weekend. Hard times call for extreme measures, peeps.
