We understand the life of a presidential candidate is rough, which is one of the reasons we would never run. (Another? Because we’d do stupid things like create a Secretary of Sexiness strictly for Leryn Franco to occupy). But we thought the point of spending all that time on the road was to make people like you, not create a division. So it’s a shocker to find out that Barack Obama, a devoted White Sox fan, openly called Chicago Cub fans on ESPN “fairweather,” inattentive and a threat to the sovereign state of Israel. Or maybe that was Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In any case, he let his true feelings be known when asked who he would pick if the Cubs and White Sox played in the World Series.

“Oh, that’s easy. White Sox. I’m not one of these fair weather fans. You go to Wrigley Field, you have a beer, beautiful people up there. People aren’t watching the game. It’s not serious. White Sox, that’s baseball. Southside.”

Wow, that Sox PR people should really pick that up and run with it during their 2009 season. “Ugly. Focused. Southside. Welcome to Chicago White Sox baseball.” Hey, they let Ozzie Guillen cuss out a kid in a radio promo, so anything’s possible.
