When you think of films that deserve red carpet retrospectives, what do you come up with? Gone With the Wind? Rocky? Goodfellas? Probably further down the list you’ll hit upon one of the most beautifully profane movies of all time, Scarface. Of course, in Miami, it’s become a film synonymous with the excesses of life the city loves, so it loves it like a child. That’s why 800 Miamians decided to converge on Gusman Center for the Performing Arts to celebrate the film’s silver anniversary. Of course Al Pacino wasn’t there (probably making more shitty movies), but Steven Bauer who played Manny in the film was, and he decided to make the gathering a Rocky Horror type affair.

About 800 fans of all ages showed up at the Friday night to celebrate its silver anniversary. The packed screening was hosted by costar Steven Bauer, who played Tony’s mano derecha Manny Ribera. ”Feel free to yell out if you know the dialogue,” Bauer shouted to the enthusiastic crowd. ”Don’t be shy!” No one was.

Of course, why would you be shy shouting the following in a theater full of people:

  • You know what? Fuck you! How about that?
  • If anything happens to that buy-money, eee pobrecito… my boss is gonna stick your heads up your asses faster than a rabbit gets fucked.
  • I never fucked anybody over in my life didn’t have it coming to them. You got that? All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don’t break them for no one.
  • How’m I gonna get a scar like that eating pussy?

Of course, it is Miami, so these are probably par for the course at a Thursday matinée.
