Colombian golfer Camilo Villegas is known throughout the PGA Tour as “Spider-Man” because of his uncanny approach to putting and we discovered him in March when the New York Times gushed over his sex appeal. (See picture). Before winning the Colombian Open in 2004 as amateur, Villegas notoriety on the PGA circuit came from his looks instead of his game. But that all changed this weekend when Villegas scored a record second round 65 and one putted 27 of his last 44 holes. Is his “Spidey-sense” peaking? Oh yeah.
“Oh man,” Villegas said. “It was a lot of hard of hard work and it’s awesome to be here. Hopefully it’s the first of many.”
Villegas needed just 25 putts for a final round 68 to hold off American Dudley Hart who stormed to a five-under 65 and finished two strokes back.
Camilo is now in second place in the FedEx Cup, whatever the hell that means (do you really follow golf), but we’re sure his dating schedule will blow up. He was voted “most-ripped golfer” ahead of Tiger Woods in 2006. Too bad he’s, like, $1 billion short of Woods appeal. Anyway, “Spider-Man” commercial below if you’ve never seen it. If you have, we’re sure you’ll let us know like chumps in the comments.
