Don’t The Clippers Have A Nutrionist? Baron Davis Says He’s On Jenny Craig To Shed Offseason Weight

When Baron Davis signed a massive 5-year, $65 million dollar deal with the Clippers this off-season, there was a little bit of talk about his conditioning and his ability to stay healthy throughout the whole season. Well, happy day for the Clips! They don’t have to worry about the first part because Davis has decided to join the ranks of Kirstie Alley and Queen Latifah by joining Jenny Craig to lose the weight he put on the off-season. Naturally, being a b-ball player, we thought he would’ve gone with Weight Watchers and their point-based system.
Inspired by current spokeswoman Latifah, Davis, 29, started the plan at the beginning of August to get in shape for basketball season.
Dude, you’re a professional athlete, and a great one at that. Why are you taking your fitness cues from Queen Latifah?
“I know Queen Latifah, and when I saw her out there using it, I thought maybe I could use it, too, to work on my health and fitness goals and inspire others…” During the NBA off-season, Davis let his fitness slide. “In the off-season, it’s kind of hard to maintain day-to-day,” he says. “I don’t want to get up and cook. And when I pig out, I’m the type of person where there’s no limit to what I can do.”
Wow, Baron’s all over the place with his motivation. The Clips need someone who can channel his food energy into something constructive instead of destructive. Judging by the picture of Baron above and his proximity to the Staples Center, we’d be expecting a call if we were Richard Simmons.
