Illinois homeboy and grunge rocker Emeritus Eddie Vedder is a devout Chicago Cubs fan. He’s so into his team that he’s taken that bellowing rasp of a voice to the studio to record a tribute track, inspired by legendary Cubbie Ernie Banks, by the name of “Someday All The Way.” Oh endless hope is blissful and inspiring, que no?
The track, with lines like “Our heroes wear pinstripes / pinstripes in blue / give us a chance to feel like heroes too,” was recorded last month during a Vedder solo show at Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre.
According to Pearl Jam’s Web site, “All the Way” will be available for download in the “next few days,” and may also be sold on CD and “souvenir 45 singles.”
Or you can just get it as a free mp3 download here. Whatever the case, we’re certain this song will become an anthem in the Windy City, until the Cubs start collapsing in the post-season and eat the wrong berries and flowers and end up crapping themselves in Alaska and dying a horrible death, alone and with only the abysmal reality that death is all you have left to warm and soothe your heart! OOOooooooooooOOOOOooooooooooooOOOO YeeeeeeaaaAAAAAAAAHHHHHHeeeeeeEEEEEEEYYyyyyyAAAAaaaaa! Too much?
