Individual runs are always wonderful when they’re capped off by a sensational goal. But when the team delivers a collective movement, chipping balls over defenders, using their noggins to deliver a perfect setup for the guy steaming through the penalty area and the roar of the crowd resounding through the stadium when the ball is still careening in the goal, that’s a scene that will launch your fist in the air and extract a belch of approval King Kong would be scared of. As was the scene last night when Sergio Ramos lobbed a pass to Raul who passed it on, one-touch style, off his head to Rafael Van Deer Vart who didn’t even flinch and steered his strike towards the right post and in. If only all goals could be so purty.
