November 13: World of Warcraft Wrath Of The Lich King Comes Out (Yes, We’re Pumped)

Say what you will, but we’re pretty big fans of the game World of Warcraft. Not to the extent that we shut ourselves off from humanity while we power level, but it’s a great, dead-simple way to blow off some stream after work or whatever.
And now there’s another expansion pack coming out. Estamos muy ilusionados.
Yes, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King comes out on November 13 in North America (and Europe, Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Russia) and November 14 for Australia and New Zealand (and other places). It’s $40 for the guaranteed hit.
Give us a moment to explain why we’re so excited.
For one, while World of Warcraft has the reputation of being only for gigantic nerds, the fact is, the game is really simple to play and can be a lot of [healthy] fun if played like a normal human being. That means no 36-hour marathon sessions because you’re trying to find some super secret sword or piece of armor. Come home from work or school, do what you have to do “real world”-wise, then spend an hour or two killing monsters with your friends online. It’s not any more warped than creating chaos in Liberty City in GTA, right?
As for the expansion pack itself, WotLK increases the level cap to 80 (from 70), which should increase gameplay time by quite a bit. (How much depends on what you do, exactly.)
There’s a new class in the game, too, the Hero Class, a necromantic death knight. It’s a big deal, trust us.
And, if you’re willing to cough up $70, then you can get the collector’s edition, which includes a 208-page art book, soundtrack, behind-the-scenes DVD and an exclusive in-game pet. That is, only people who bought the collector’s edition will get this particular pet. It’s a bade of honor in the game, sorta.
Of course, you will need the two previous editions of the game, World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, in order to play Wrath.
So, uh, if we’re a little late with posts come November 13, now you know why.
