When The Music’s Over, Turn Out The Lights

You can’t lose what you don’t put in the middle…but you can’t win much either.
Matt Damon said that in “Rounders”…and I believe it. If you risk nothing in this world then you’re stuck in the perennial traffic jam of life, with window washers harassing you at every signal and top-40 blaring out of your speakers until your ears bleed. It’s a fucked up existence with the potential to atrophy your soul until you realize it’s too late; you’ve sold out for cheap; the devil’s comin’ to get ya; and you never even set foot in Paris!
Actually, we’ve been to Paris and graffiti on Baroque is the most beautiful art we’ve ever seen.
And for that we can’t sit for 10 hours a day spitting nonsensical, Argentine hating jokes anymore, with the intent to provide “Latino commentary” for a group of people who can see right through it.
Like Damon said, “muck your hand when you know it can’t win.”
I’m stepping down from Machochip tomorrow, tossing the editorial baton to my good friend and contributing editor Alex Ferreyra.
I want to thank him for always trusting me, for writing great stories and for making Machochip an easier place to work.

Personal thanks to ESPN Milwaukee’s Juan Lozano for tipping us with great stories, pocho_el_guey for his comments that usually came up in every editorial meeting and to every reader who has ever dropped in to berate, commend or simply to say “wow, she’s purty.”
Lang Whitaker from Slam Online once said he liked us because we were “pretty cool and well-written, with lots of links to soccer”…and then we concentrated on Nereida Gallardo’s tits for three months and we never heard from him again.
