Should we pity Gabino Arteaga? He’s the Chicago car wash owner who sold White Sox third baseman Juan Uribe a 23-foot powerboat in August. When Uribe asked if Arteaga could hold it for a “couple of days” in his detailing shop, he said sure. Well… the boat’s still there, and Arteaga is having to shuffle his business around, parking cars and doing work outside the area where this big ass boat is. Uribe, contacted about this story while his team’s doing their best Mets impression and losing their division lead to the Twins, said he wasn’t told that Arteaga would be charging him $200 a day storage fees (!) and that he wouldn’t be paying the $8,000 to get his boat. He even went Jules from Pulp Fiction on Arteaga’s ass on the phone to prove his point.
A heated phone conversation ensued in which Arteaga claims Uribe alternated between quoting the Bible to him and accusing him of demanding “dirty money.”
Oh, so he’s a member of Sarah Palin’s congregation.
“Everything got nasty,” Arteaga said. “He got loud and was using obscenities.” Arteaga’s attorney sent Uribe a letter asking for the storage fees. Arteaga said he doesn’t care to see the boat — or Uribe — ever again. “If he does come in, I’m going to ask him to leave the premises,” he said. “If he refuses, I’m calling 911.”
Oh yeah, well Uribe will just call Ozzie Guillen. Then you’ll see who’s in trouble. Guillen will have you in tears before the first responders show up.
