Leo Messi is really trying to take his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo to Superman/Lex Luthor heights, or at least Dangermouse/TOAD-levels. We all know that CR7 is completely in the tank for himself to win all the awards this year. But Leo isn’t so sure that, even after the Year Ronaldo had, he should take home any hardware. In fact, he names every big player in the world who should have it as well–singling out Kun Aguero–and coming just short of including the corpse of the memory of Maradona on the list.

I would give them to Aguero. But Fernando Torres and Xavi would also be worthy of the awards, as would Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka and the other players included in the list.

“Ronaldo is a great player. Last year he was ahead of me in the Ballon D’Or and I was ahead of him in the World Player of the Year. It’s going to be a great battle.”

You know what would be a great battle? If everyone he just named got into a steel cage match in the middle of Buenos Aires and just duked it out. Auguero has a kid on the way so he’s bow out early, Kaka wouldn’t hit anyone because of his religious beliefs and Ronaldo and Torres would just duck and protect their faces. That would leave Leo and Xavi standing. Who would you have in that battle?
