We’ve always thought bar games were fun here at Machochip, but who wants to brave a crowd of drunks just to enjoy a little puck bowling or darts? And, lets be honest, no grown man should be caught playing beer pong after the age of 25, at least not in public.
Thanks to the good people at Midway, you can play at home. Game Party 2, available for the Nintendo Wii, gives you your beer pong fix right in your family room, den, or wherever you keep your TV, and then some.

Games for the Nintendo Wii must be judged using a different metric than games for other systems. The graphics on the Wii are never going to blow you away, but the gameplay might. If we’re judging based on fun and replay value, Game Party 2 is a winner. The game offers players 11 individual games they can play alone or with friends. Some of the games are typically found inside your local watering hole (darts, puck bowling), while others would be found in the bar’s courtyard (horseshoes, lawn darts).
Beer pong, for the purposes of a family game, is called “ping cups” here. It, and the ten other games included, are easy to play, as the typical controller move only requires the player to hold a button, move the Wii-mote in a throwing motion towards their objective, and letting the button go. Some of the games are a lot easier than others, and you might find that the easier games are a bit less enjoyable. It’s nice that Midway included a Dave & Busters style “hoop shoot” game, but you wouldn’t miss it if it wasn’t here.
You would miss horseshoes and the beanbag toss, however. There’s even a trivia game if you want to sit down for a while. And since four players can play together here, this is an excellent party game, one you’ll return to time and time again, especially if you want to get some beer pong going without ruining a table and making the floor slick with stale beer.
On a side note, it is worth noting that the beanbag toss, in certain parts of this country, is actually referred to as “cornhole.” Be careful when you ask a few of your boys to come over and play a little cornhole with you…they might get the wrong idea. We did. Recommended.

Visit Midway’s official site for more details. On sale at your local game retailer for $29.99.
