Whas Happened In Sports Last Night

  • MLB: Both tickets to the American League Championship series were punched last night as BJ Upton’s two home runs help Tampa Bay knock off Chicago, and a horribly executed bunt-and-run in a tied top of the ninth inning did the Angels in against the Red Sox. We would talk about how the Rays had the Sox number during the regular season, but if these playoffs have proven anything, it’s that it truly is a new season. Rays 6, White Sox 2; Red Sox 3, Angels 2 [ESPN; Boston.com]
  • More scores and news you may have missed while wondering what your “beverage game” keywords are going to be for tonight’s debate… after the jump.

  • NFL: Reggie Bush became only the 12th person in NFL history to return two punts for touchdowns in the same game. But it was all for naught as the defense pissed the game away in the last seconds, betting beat by a Ryan Longwell field goal with 16 seconds let. Vikings 30, Saints 27 [New Orleans Times-Picayune]
  • NFL News: This time last year, Travis Henry was leading the league in rushing. Now he’s handcuffed in a bus, forty of us. Life as a former NFL running back shouldn’t be so rough. [USA Today]
  • Movies: Are you worried that the Watchmen movie will feel incomplete? Well this guy saw the first 20 minutes and said we shouldn’t worry. Eh, screw it, we’ll still worry. [Yahoo!]
  • Food: Ricky Hatton says if he loses his fight against Paul Malignaggi in Las Vegas on November 22, he’s going to retire. A boxer talking about retirement is like a smoker talking about quitting, isn’t it? Until you see it doen for an extended period of time, you never quite believe it. [Guardian UK]
  • Food: ZOMG, there’s a new Fatburger in Chicago!!1! Not that the “Cheeseburger Bureau Chief” of the Tribune thinks anything special of it. Yeah buddy, why don’t you go have a slice of that supposedly superior deep dish pizza instead. [Chicago Tribune]
