Yesterday, Mets reliever Ambiorix Burgos was being sought by authorities after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run accident in the Dominican Republic that killed two people. Burgos was driving in Nagua, a town outside of Santo Domingo, when he hit Josefina Minaya Martínez, 38, and Angely Faña, 29, with his Hummer. The Mets released this statement…
“We are extremely disturbed by the reports regarding the player’s potential involvement in the hit and run accident that unfortunately killed two women in the Dominican Republic… We take this matter very seriously and have begun an internal investigation to ascertain the facts. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families of the victims.”
Unfortunately, the Daily News‘ website has set link templates that didn’t make them look so hot when they ran with this story.

Yes, what should the Mets do with the alleged hit-and-run murderer in the offseason? Trade him? Put him on waivers? We can just imagine this transplanted onto talk radio. “Yeah, they should totally get rid of that bum. I mean, he killed two broads, right? Plus, the guy couldn’t get a guy to ground out to save his life, if you know what I mean.”
