Forget Obama and McCain. The real president, according to the users of TV.com, is David Palmer of the hit FOX series, 24.
We prefer to remember Dennis Haysbert, who played Palmer, not as a foil for Kiefer Sutherland or an insurance salesman. Rather, he will always live in our hearts as the big-hitting hero of the 1989 American League Eastern Division playoff, the Cleveland Indians own Pedro Cerrano.
Yea, can you believe that Major League is almost 20 years old?
TV.com, a leading content and community site for TV fans, sent their community members to the polls to cast their vote for which TV President would be best for the next real-life President of the United States. President David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), the very popular President on 24, was the landslide winner at 44% of the votes. Palmer served as President for the first four seasons of 24, reflecting the duration of an entire, real-life election term.
“With Election day just a week away, it is evident that the TV.com community is already in the voting spirit,” said Jeff Clark, Vice President, TV.com. “These polls offer TV fans a fun, complementary experience online which makes them more involved in the characters they admire on TV.”
President Cerrano bested the ultra-liberal panty-waste Jeb Bartlett of West Wing fame, as well as two other has-beens, to take the honors. Sure, they may have voted for Palmer, but we like to think that Cerrano is the real national leader. He would make a perfect president, except for the whole natural born citizen requirement. When times are tough, he’s not afraid to sacrifice a live chicken to make things right. And his debate skills, of course, cannot be matched. Even if you make a point, Cerrano has black magic on his side.
Skip to the 30 second mark here, people. Whatever’s in front of this classic clip is basically unwatchable.
