Seth Petruzelli Confirms Kimbo Slice’s Posse Got Thuggy, Not Huggy, With His Wifey

We have a new wrinkle in the ongoing EliteXC drama that has followed the unlikely Kimbo Slice defeat at the hands of last-minute substitute Seth Petruzelli. In an interview with Doghouse Boxing, Petruzelli reveals, for the first time we can recall, that Slice’s entourage got nasty with Petruzelli’s wife following his victory last Saturday night in a manner unbecoming a nationally televised network event.
BH: In my research and preparation for this interview, I read somewhere that your wife was threatened by Kimbo’s entourage, is that true?
SP: Yeah, it is all true, they threatened to spit in her face and they threatened to shoot my corner and all sorts of crazy crap. Now it was not Kimbo at all, Kimbo was the nicest person in the world, he was super humble after the fight. It is always the people you are with who gets you into trouble. I had to get escorted out with security.
Here, and in a few other points in the interview, Petruzelli goes out of his way to heap praise on Slice, and makes it clear that Slice himself is a nice guy who had nothing to do with the antics of his posse. Still, the wheels seem to be quickly coming off the Kimbo Slice phenomenon. First, Petruzelli implies that EliteXC executives asked him to refrain from taking Slice to the mat, in order to play to Kimbo’s stand-and-punch strengths and give him the best chance to win. Now, Petruzelli confirms that Slice’s corner crew tried to bring the streets to the ring.
EliteXC dodged a bullet this time. Had their been an ugly public altercation, on network television, between a member of Slice’s team and Petruzelli’s wife, we have to imagine that CBS would pull EliteXC off the air faster than you can say “we made a deal with the wrong company.”
One notable omission from the interview is any mention of Petruzelli’s comments following the fight and the open investigation in Florida as to whether or not EliteXC attempted to fix the fight for Slice. We asked Benny Henderson of Doghouse Boxing for clarification. Henderson said he decided not to ask about it because the question has been asked over and over, and Petruzelli has already made clear that he misspoke in his initial comments.
