Adidas Uses High-Price Talent For Viral Videos

We understand that the economy’s down right now, but is the internet the best way to use commercials featuring Michael Ballack, Arjen Robben, Emmanuel Adebayor and Steven Gerrard? Adidas has shelled out plenty we’re sure to make these unusual viral videos showing the EPL and La Liga stars using their wares. Liverpool’s Gerrard is trying to hit clay pigeons; Chelsea’s Ballack does his best Germany’s Funniest Home Videos routine; Real Madrid’s Robben gets stuck in a Sid and Marty Kroft flick and has his shoes come to life; and Arsenal’s Adebayor has the one truly awesome commercial, playing a video game that ends like so many of ours does—with a dance. But the question remains, is this an ad push that’ll make it to the screens while we’re watching the UEFA Cup? Or are the relegated to the internet cafes? While we think Adebayor’s clip is the best, we still think they’re mostly worthy of an ad buy on ESPN 2, even the nut shot. Everyone loves those.
