We have this notion that a soccer friendly involve just a couple of teams who want to work out some kinks in time for the real matches to begin. Ha! These are athletes we’re dealing with here, humans who are so intent on showing up other people that they’d make a competition over who can drop a bigger mojon in the toilet. Case in point, the “exhibition” the other night when the boys from Brazil put a hurtin’ on Portugal 6-2. And as with any superior athlete who’s getting their ass handed to them, Cristiano Ronaldo might have gotten… a little bit mouthy (no!) and touchy with the Brazilians and they didn’t take too lightly to it. They may share a language, but there’s no love between these guys when it comes to attempting to main Tiago Silva and talking shit to the rest of the team.

“He’s a malicious guy and if I hadn’t jumped out of the way he would have broken my leg.” Fluminense defender Silva, linked with a move to Chelsea in January, added: “He just lost it because we snuffed him totally out of the game… [h]e had the nerve to say he didn’t touch me but that’s only because I got out of his way… Then he realised he was in the wrong and tried to apologise but I wasn’t accepting that.”

Real Madrid ace Marcelo said: “Ronaldo was out of order and a bigmouth. He elbowed me off the ball, then tried to have a shouting match about it.”

While we are in no way shocked that he would open his big, properly manicured mouth (check out our archives to see what we mean), we are a little skeptical of a full on assault on Silva’s leg. Sure in the heat of the moment it may have crossed his mind, but we doubt that Ronaldo’s dumb enough to put a bigger bounty on his pretty head than he already has. He barely likes a misplaced hair on his fauxhawk, a black eye would just ruin his whole stylo.
Oh wait. Never mind.
