It’s time for more sweet kicks from the good folks at Nike. Yesterday the company announced the launch of the Jordan Melo M5, a lightweight high-top designed for those who, like Denver Nuggets guard Carmelo Anthony, can (and sometimes must) play every position on the floor.
Sure, using the sneakers to actually play ball is a good idea. But we think this silver/black color combo would look just as fly in the club. Multi-tasking footwear!

Anthony collaborated with Jordan Brand footwear design director, D’Wayne Edwards, to create the shoe, which is Anthony’s fifth with the brand. “I wanted the Jordan Melo M5 to be something even more sophisticated and more versatile than we’d done before, with performance still being most important,” said Anthony. “The Jordan Melo M5 incorporates my personal sense of style and mixes it with support and comfort that allows me the explosive power necessary in today’s game.”

The Jordan Melo M5’s design complements all five positions on the basketball court. Weighing in at only 15 ounces, its light weight allows for point-guard-like quickness; its natural flexibility ensures quick transitioning for shooting guards; a molded heel counter and inner collar padding create a superior fit for any small forward; heel and forefoot Zoom Air give a power forward advanced cushioning; and centers will appreciate the added support and stability the shank plate and outsole offer for the physical low-post game.

You know, while we’re sure that Carmelo is super psyched to have his own shoe brand, is there ever gonna be a time when Nike drops the Jordan logo and creates new brands around their current superstars? The whole “Jumpman” thing is very nice, be we do have a whole upcoming generation of youngsters that never saw Michael play, or only saw him play with the Washington Wizards (ugh). Eventually, they aren’t gonna care about his brand, even if he was the greatest who ever played.
These kicks will be available on November 22 for a princely sum of $125.
