The last time we saw men of the cloth fight like this, we were at school and two of our Fatherly professors saw fit to get into fistacuffs at one of the bars students went to. Fun! Well, it looks like this fight between Greek Orthodox and Armenian monks at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre (where Jesus was supposedly crucified) wasn’t alcohol-fueled, but rather rooted in religion. As the Armenian Monks were preparing inside the Church to celebrate their annual Feast of the Cross, the Greeks came in like a band of wiley fighters from a Shaw Brothers movie and started brawlin’ because they weren’t recognizing their rights to be in the Church as well. And see what happens when you don’t recognize? Shit gets tossed.
Dressed in the vestments of the Greek Orthodox and Armenian denominations, rival monks threw punches and anything they could lay their hands on… Shocked pilgrims looked on as decorations and tapestries were toppled during Sunday’s clash.
Oh noes!!1! Not the tapestries. See if you can make them out in the video after the jump.
