Sure, it’s cliche, but we love Vegas. The unattainable women poolside, the moment of realization that you’re flat broke, $25 drinks. But there are those streaks of goodness that balance it out—the $9.99 steak, the hot hand in the dice games and the moment you first walk into the casino. We think all that latter euphoria must’ve hit 22-year-old Dutchkid Peter Eastgate all at once the moment he won the World Series of Poker yesterday. He’s the youngest ever to do so, and with a cool $9.1 million now in his pocket, he can gladly walk around Las Vegas as the king of the strip. Well, until some thugs or bikers beat him up for his gold WSOP bracelet.
As friends from Denmark jumped around and shouted in the seating area, Eastgate displayed hardly a hint of a smile while posing for photos in front of cash piled on the green felt table.
“I guess I haven’t really realized how big this is,” said Eastgate, who erased the youngest-winner record set by Phil Hellmuth at 24 in 1989. “It will come in the next weeks or the next days. I will become very emotional at some point.”
With that much cash in this economy, he could buy property dirt cheap in L.A. and Vegas and still have enough to get fucked converting the rest into Danish Krones. Ah, who are we kidding. It’s going to be all gone the moment he runs into some hooch from The Hills at LAX and goes on a shopping spree.
