Whenever we get a new job, it’s always important for us to make a good impression. You know, show up on time, don’t stink, don’t stalk the hot girl (yet). The exact opposite of what Rich Rodriguez is doing at Michigan right now after leaving West Virginia like a litigious bat out of hell. Sure he doesn’t have his recruits playing yet, but for the first time since 1974, the Wolverines are going to be at home during Bowl season, and for the first time ever, they’ve lost eight straight games. Well, it’ll be nine after Saturday’s defeat to their blood rivals Ohio State. So we can understand the fans’ anger about the situation in Ann Arbor right now. But you know who doesn’t? Rich Rodriguez, who’d prefer if followers of the Maize checked their priorities before—hey lookit there, is that a giraffe riding the Goodyear Blimp? No, seriously, look over there before (/runs away).
“It’s amazing some of the things that people would say (on a message board) or yell at you of a personal nature,” Rodriguez said Monday. “You almost want to tell them, `Get a life’… There’s a whole lot bigger problems. Look at the economy.”
Rich Rodriguez is the first person ever to use the real world as an escapist mechanism against sports. People usually go to sports to escape the fact that their jobs are gone and there’s no food in the fridge (especially in Michigan), Rich. And if you bring it up again, fans are likely to bring up the $2 million the school’s paying you for a 3-9 record this year. We’d suggest shutting up and focusing your frustrations on OSU this weekend, coach. It would go a long way into assuring you’d get those $2 million next year, too.
